Ovation Ultra Hard Body electric guitar Ripley Fader

If you are looking to play a guitar that no one else has and stand out in your playing…having that tone that no one else has…then this guitar might be for you. I have never seen a guitar like this before in stores or on Ebay, and I don’t think I ever will again. I’ve seen a lot of Preachers, Vipers, Deacons, Ultra Kamans’ and GS series…but you’ll never find a rarity like this again.

It is hard to describe the sound of this guitar, but you can say it sounds a lot like an old Stratocaster in that it has a very rich, bright, bell-like tone with a fair amount of twang. The neck pickup can tune in some darker Gibson type tones, but for the most part you’re listening to that stellar Ovation and Fender-type tone.

The reason why I love this guitar is that it has very special electronics. You can set individual strings to be played at variable volumes using different pickups, so the effect is that you have compete control over your tone and volume on every string. Each string has it’s own three-way toggle switch and volume control, or you can bypass the fader system and play it like a three position pickup guitar.

Structurally, this guitar could take someone out. I don’t know what the body is made out of, but it’s really hard and resonant. The frets still have tons of meat on them, they look very lightly used. When I bought this guitar at a local music store, I opened the panels and gave it a thorough inspection. It was surprisingly clean and I kept it like that. All of the solder work is original as well as all of the parts. The case actually comes with the key and wreches and is in very good condition. This guitar was kept in very good condition, but is not new, so it has very minor surface scratches and minor belt rash on the back. There are no deep impressions or scratches.

As described by burningforever777 owner and ebay seller

The guitar is described above as an “Ultra” an dI have included it in this section but it’s appearance has more in common with the later Korean  made Celebrities and GTX.

The body is modelled but lacks the sculpturing of the GS.  It has the pointy six-a-side headstock of  the GTX and it’s “mountain” inlays. The bridge unit  also has greater similarities to the Ffoyd Rose than the Kahler on the GS.

Looks to me as if it was made from prototype parts destined for these later madels rather than Ultra bits.
